I really don't know how to explain how this happened...the idea just sort of popped into my head while thinking about how Eric and Alan would get along in the office.
Eric spends all this time in the musical making sure that Alan is safe, and so I think he would be ultra over-protective and think that literally ANYTHING could hurt Alan. And the stapler was the very first item that I thought of.
So now, I like to think there's this love triangle between Eric, Alan, and that stapler. All Alan wants to do is use it, and Eric just won't let him!
